History of Valley Rovers Camogie Club
Valley Rovers Camogie Club was founded in 1987. However there was Camogie played in the parish before this, with a team know as Shamrock Maids playing in the 40’s and 50’s. Mary Bugler was instrumental in the foundation of the club and was the first Chairperson of the club. Thirty two years later she is still involved in camogie, at present she is on the GPC of the Cork Camogie Board. The club has gone from strength to strength over the years and has played the top grade in all underage competitions. The club caters for players from Under 6 upwards to Adult level. Over the years many members of the club have downed the Cork jersey, with the highlight being Elaine Burke captaining the victorious Cork senior Camogie team to All-Ireland success in 2005. The following night the O’Duffy cup was proudly received in Innishannon.
Carrigdhoun won the Senior A Championship in 2004, and Valley Rovers were represented on this team by Liz Bugler, Gillian Harrington, Lucy Hawkes and Elaine Burke.
